“Patron Saint of Hope”

Acrylic on silver tray
23” x 17”

I aimed to capture Saint Jude Thaddeus with unconventional imagery in what I think is a more accurate representation . I tried to stay away from his usual staff , golden medallion, green robe , and flame above his head . I chose to use a model with a hooked nose , darker skin and hair , and a full , unkempt beard . The pose is one of hope and embrace . I also utilized the silver platter to symbolize a halo . Saint Jude was a figure I’d repeatedly see growing up and only recently learned to appreciate . The Saint of the lost causes , performer of miracles . The Patron Saint of Hope .
