“Translucent”
Vent cover and acrylic on wood panel
16" x 16"
I built a wooden frame to attach an AC vent to , and behind it I painted a box of laundry detergent . This piece is a rendition of a direct childhood memory . Growing up there was a period where my parents earned money through unconventional methods and would stash their money in a box of detergent and hide that in the air vent . The piece acts as literal and symbolic imagery , the soap being my innocence and the vent being truth . Sometimes the truth is transparent , and other times it’s translucent .
